Surge Protection units have been used for some time to protect 'plug-in' pieces of I.T equipment such as Computers and Telephone systems.
Now they are being used more and more often to protect process control equipment from surges and transients caused by power supplies, EMC generated noise,lightning and other effects from atmospheric electrical fields.
Industrial Interface has developed a range of surge protectors which have been specially designed to protect these process loops and be cost-effective and simple to install on standard TS35 DIN rail.
This document gives examples of how these isolators are used to protect different types of loops such as field 4-20mA transmitters, thermocouples and RTD sensors.
